Columbus African Festival
A Central Ohio arts & culture festival, and a Service Learning partner where Odibo’s Grant Writing focus group has put its research skills to work.
Visit Website →Conceived around the UN-designated International Decade for People of African Descent (2011–2021), Columbus African Festival takes a bold, comprehensive approach to cultural reconversion and reconstruction within the African Diaspora in Central Ohio — treating art as the creative cultural production of a people’s common history, not entertainment alone.
The festival spans music, dance, theatre, visual arts, fashion, poetry, comedy, African design, textiles, cuisine, and wholistic medicine presented as an art form — empowering community arts participation, creating platforms for Greater Columbus artists, and engaging stakeholders on the challenges facing Africa and its diaspora. It is organized by a nonprofit Board of Directors based in Columbus, Ohio.
Since 2022, Odibo’s Grant Writing focus group has provided research and grant support to Columbus African Festival, contributing to fundraising for the 2024 festival.
